•May 2, 2009 • Leave a CommentSteamed May 2, 2009. A piece I started a week ago. It has been discharged and overdyed a few times. I will look at it for a bit to see where to go with it. I think a better description for these works is silk drawings rather than paintings.

•April 23, 2009 • Leave a CommentPainted April 23, 2009. I started this today with the intention that it is the base for further work with discharge and dye. I really do love the look of a distressed surface. In silk that translates as a layered richness that has a randomness to it. I could possibly be happy with just that- without the need to include recognizable images. I am still excited with the painting and obliterating and painting again of faces. This one was going to have flowers around the head when I realized I could just revel in color and surface. As it progresses I’ll post pictures of it.

Bunnies in My Garden
•April 14, 2009 • Leave a CommentThis is gigantic, 36×72. It got sent off to the Toledo Museum store this morning. Bye-bye my sweet bunnies.

•April 11, 2009 • Leave a CommentPainted last year. I am looking at it again to find the thread of how I want to translate all the portrait work into the silk paintings.

Worked on this for a couple of weeks. I may frame it using fabric paint to print a faux frame. At the moment I am not sure about it and will leave it for a day or two to see what a fresh eye dictates.
Florist Floor
•February 15, 2009 • Leave a Comment I started this piece last week. This is the first “layer”. I will probably do many pale taupe/pink flowers in between the flowers that are here. It will have a layered look- as if the flowers fell and scattered on a floor. I’ll photograph it as I go along.
Purple Tapestry
•January 13, 2009 • Leave a CommentPainted the first 10 days of January 2009. It is big- approx 8×4. Many layers of color painted to get all the gradations of purple to violet to deep plum. I am pleased with it.

•December 30, 2008 • Leave a CommentDone around the same time as “Cory”. This piece had more resistant dye so the discharge was trickier but the result is very rich. I like it.

•December 30, 2008 • Leave a CommentPortrait that involved several layers of dye then discharge (process that removes some color). There is a randomness to the process that appeals to me.

Painted on November 22, 2008. The design inspired by details on a Persian carpet.
Two scarves I photographed on December 1st. Trying to figure out the best way to show them….

I spent the day learning how to create a blog and cooking and laughing and enjoying my amazing family and friends.

this piece was painted in May as the rain fell and the flowers grew.
